Wine Basket Gifts

 

Choosing Christmas gifts was given a fair bit of extra variety when gift baskets became more common and readily available. Basket gifts come in all shapes, sizes and contents, and one of the most popular type is the wine basket gift.

The popularity of a basket gift of wine has increased many fold in the last 3 decades. As people have become more widely travelled and interested in wines from around the world, wine consumption has been on the increase for a long time. Red wine was given the health boost, when research showed that it was good for the heart. I must admit, red wine has been my favourite drink for some years now, and I for one would be delighted to receive a wine basket gift this Christmas; or my next birthday.

Come to think of it, a basket gift of wine would be very much appreciated any day of the year. However, Christmas is the most popular time for basket gifts of all types, including wine. Of course, usually gift baskets come with a lot more than just a bottle of wine. Other delights are likely to accompany the wine, such as chocolates, biscuits, smoked salmon, cheese and many others.
